The Saturday Morning Brew, #16
An amazing chilli recipe, a first look at the new Jurassic World movie and the best coffe shops in London for whenever you visit.
Good morning lovers,
Happy weekend!
How are all of you beautiful faces doing?
Doesn’t it feel good to be in February now?
Jacob is still in bed as I write this, as he is always the night owl and I’m always the early morning bird (though not too early).
Shall we grab our coffee and have a little catch-up?
The Morning Catch-Up
We’ve been having quite a busy week here in London and have *almost* no plans this Saturday, apart from filming some stuff for an upcoming brand deal we have on our Instagram.
What has our week been filled with, I hear you ask?
Lots of fun things: we attended the launch of a new product from one of our favourite skincare brands Medik8 (you must check them out), which was hosted in the Gherkin in Central London.
Ever heard of it?
You know those fancy buildings that look like the headquarters of MI5 in the James Bond movies?
Think that.
On Wednesday, we were lucky enough to be invited to have lunch at the beautiful hotel along the River Thames, as well as to have a couples massage ahead of Valentine’s Day.
When I used to work as a spin instructor, I would have lost count of the number of times I would walk past this hotel in question, running to my next class, exhausted and sweating from the one before.
To think of where I am now in my life, that I get to sit in that hotel instead and have a lovely meal and a couples massage makes me want to pinch myself.
Then on Thursday, we attended a new season launch at All Saints, where I was kind of giving Yellowstone/Brokeback Mountain realness with my outfit.
Similar story for Jacob, but the launch was at the store in Regents Street that he used to work at when he was sixteen, so it’s really been a full circle week for us.
We finished off the night meeting one of our new friends for tacos and margs in Notting Hill, and Jacob has now fully decided that we are going to move there this year.
Are we about to enter our 90’s British romcom era?
The Culture Catch-Up
WATCHING
Ok, we are having a bit of a dilemma at the moment: we have nothing that we want to watch.
Jacob and I certainly have different tastes when it comes to watching stuff, so last night while he was playing his Age of Empires game (eye roll), I attempted to find something new to watch on Netflix and was left disappointed.
I started by trying to watch the first episode of The Diplomat, as I had heard it was a mix of West Wing and other things, but I had to turn it off at thirty minutes because I didn’t believe it. Has anyone else watched it? The newer series on Netflix have such a specific style, don’t they? I just didn’t love it.
Then I put on the first episode of Mad Men, which I have heard is an incredible series, but again, I was not interested. I’m sure if I stuck with it, it would get better, but I just don’t think misogynistic men in advertising are a demographic I care to watch.
So eventually I gave up, and put on Jurassic Park, after getting excited by watching the trailer for the new movie with Jonathan Bailey. I am really hoping it’s going to be good, as the last Jurassic World movie left a lot to be desired.
READING
Finally getting around to finishing Beartown. Next up on my list is The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins and I am also in the market for a new fiction book. Any suggestions?
LISTENING
God, the Grammys were incredible this year, weren’t they?
I am so thrilled that Beyonce won Album of the Year because it’s so deserved, but all of the nominations were so worthy and I haven’t stopped listening to them all week.
Chappelle Roan, Billie Eillish, Charlie XCX, Doechii, Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Raye, Kendrick Lamar, Kacey Musgraves.

As we mentioned above, we got to check out some of the new collections at All Saints and were also gifted some new denim jeans. I can be a bit picky when it comes to jeans because I think they have to be exactly right if I am going to wear them. We can safely say these are a great pair of jeans, and if you’re in the market for a cool new pair, check them out at All Saints. Link here. (This is not an ad or affiliate link).
Next Week On Mr.& Mr. | The Weekly Edit
We are thinking next week we are going to tackle that all-important topic of what “coming out” looks like in the 21st century, our own coming out stories, and whether or not we need to have them anymore. So much to unpack and talk about.
Until then you gorgeous bunch,
Chris and Jacob xx
Mad Men was enjoyable, I too recommend you give it another try. Also, look at ‘Back In Action’ if you haven’t seen it yet. I loved it, I think y’all will enjoy it. Make some chili and put your feet up. Let me know what you think. Have a great week all.
LOVE Mad Men! give it another try. such a good show. also, we tried The Diplomat, too, and couldn't get into it! everyone who watches it loves it, though, so I will give it another try. xoxo
