Hey lovers,
I’ll begin with a story:
When we first came out of lockdown back in 2020, the life of unemployed actors was pretty bleak.
Many theatre contracts that had been put on hold were starting up again, and if you weren’t already in a job (hi, me), then work was looking slim for a while.
I remember working my muggle job, a front of house receptionist at a gym, which involved me waking up at 4:50am most mornings to open the studio for a measly amount of money that was not enough to survive on.
Kudos to anyone who works these kind of jobs and have done all of their lives, because it is not for the faint hearted, and I applaud anyone who does it.
At the time, I remember stumbling across a “booktoker”, who was travelling in Bali, making videos all about the books he was reading.
I remember thinking, “Wow, what an amazing job that must be; to be able to travel the world and make money from talking about books.”
Cut to five years on, I was sat drinking a beer on our balcony in Mauritius, having just been on a PR stay at a five star hotel, and I had the epiphany: I was living the very life I had once wished I could have!
How lucky I am, to be where I am right now in this moment…
And so, here we are - our next Travel Diary all about our 10 days in Mauritius (that actually turned into twelve), and how we, as an LGBT couple, found it!
Enjoy!
