Hey lovers,

It may be a complete surprise to you that Jacob and I haven’t always galavanted around the world.

For the longest while, alongside my acting career, my main side hustle job was being a fitness instructor.

Now, my relationship with fitness has been a non-linear one, and the journey I continually find myself on has both its share of triumphs and its defeats.

I have been through it from all sides; times when I was frightened to go to the gym, times when I overate and didn’t move my body in any way whatsoever, times when I did so much cardio that I felt like I was walking around like a zombie and probably didn’t fuel my body enough.

Even now, my relationship with food, fitness and a healthy lifestyle is ever-changing, and as someone about to enter his 30s, one of my main goals this year has been getting into the best shape of my life, and creating habits that optimise my health and wealth.

As a gay couple who constantly navigates a world that places value on looking good, with the temptation of unhealthy routines and attitudes lurking in the shadows, I think it’s important to lay it all out on the table.

So here is what our morning routine looks like.

Hopefully, you find it not as blatantly obvious as other people’s advice on the internet.

A Morning Routine That Will Set You Up For Success

“Small, consistent action changes everything.”

Mel Robbins

  1. Whatever time you’re going to wake up, set it and stick to it.

I’ve read “The 5 a.m Club”, and while I think that there are some good points in the book, I don’t believe that every successful person in the world has to wake up that early.

For one, some people are just not morning people.

Jacob is a night owl and has been all of his life.

Both of us have worked in professional shows where we don’t get home until after 11 pm, with our adrenaline after the performances keeping us wide awake until well after midnight.

So waking up at 5 a.m would simply not be feasible for us, because lack of sleep can have a much worse impact on your overall health, than waking up later in the morning.
