#008 Travel Diary: Why Our First Trip To Mexico Was So Special
Another addition of Travel Diaries from the comfort of your armchair. This year was the first time we ever set foot in Mexico, and as you'll see below, it did not disappoint.
Hey Lovers…
Halloween is officially over, which means the run-up to the holidays has finally begun!
Jacob and I love this time of year, especially in London, as the cosiness levels reach an all-time high: mulled wine walks along the River Thames, Sunday roasts in old-fashioned pubs and the potential for a snowy day or two.
This is also when I reminisce on all the fabulous trips we have been on throughout the year, and 2024 has been quite something, let me tell you.
If you are anything like me and love to armchair travel, reading and watching anything and everything about travel and the new places that I have yet to discover, then issue #008 of Mr. & Mr.| The Weekly Edit will be perfect for you.
But before we get into that…
The Weekly Check In
How are you gorgeous people doing? There are now over 300 of you subscribing to this newsletter, and we are just so grateful for all of you.
What’s more, I am having so much fun writing on this platform!
It feels so different from the quick, showy content that we are all so used to consuming nowadays.
Being able to slow it down, go into so much more detail about our lives and relationships, and feel like we are connecting with people who want to be part of something, feels…really nice.
We have had a bit of a hectic couple of days.
Jacob has been in New York for a work commitment for both of us and was meant to be joining me in Scotland this weekend for my mum’s birthday/retirement!
We have a hotel and dinner booked to celebrate her, and we have been looking forward to it all week.
Unfortunately, Jacob’s flight last night was cancelled and now he is not going to make it time to be with us for the weekend, which sucks.
Things could be worse; we are reminding ourselves of just our lucky we are with our lives and the opportunities that keep showing up for us, so it’s just one of those things that can’t be helped.
Luckily I am here in Scotland and will still be able to celebrate with my mum (though she sounds more disappointed that it will be just us two, and missing Jacob lol).
Also, for all our American friends, I gather the coming days will be ones filled with anxiety and fear, in the run-up to the election.
Know that the world is thinking of you, and I remain hopeful that the outcome will be a positive one for democracy, for women’s rights, for LGBTQIA+ rights, and for common sense.
Hang in there, America!
November Book Club Pick
In case you missed it over on the Mr. & Mr | The Weekly Edit chat room, our book club choice has been picked for the month of November.
Make sure to always keep an eye on the chat feature of Substack, so you don’t miss out on any announcements and just general fun!
We are so excited to announce that we will be reading…*drum roll please*…
Intermezzzo by Sally Rooney.
This is a novel that was on my reading list for the year, and I thought it would be the perfect choice to start our book club off, seeing as most of the reading world is discussing it at the moment.
You can check out what the novel is about here and decide if it’s something you would like to read with us!
In the coming days I will send out a survey asking whether you would like the book club meet to be via a chat forum or via a video link like Zoom, just so I can understand how people would like to participate.
I will also announce the date that I am thinking for this, which will be towards the end of the month, of course!
For this month, the book club will be open to free and paying subscribers, and of course, it will be very relaxed and non-commital, so don’t feel too intimidated!
If you’re thinking about reading with us, then please let me know in the comments, just so I can be aware of the numbers!
Happy reading!
What We’re Wearing
You guys, we are so lucky to be partnering with Banana Republic this winter, over on our Instagram and TikTok, where we are going to be creating some look ideas for the holiday season!
Though we are partnering with them, we genuinely think the brand and the clothes are so so good, and we would still recommend them regardless.
We were checking out their website and…their new arrivals section has some great pieces.
Check them out here.
Again, we aren’t being paid specifically to post on this platform and don’t have affiliate links with them, but we still want to disclose we are working with them, just in case that sways your decision to have a look.
Whatever floats your boat!
Anyways…go and grab your passport, settle into that armchair, and come travelling with us!
Why Our First Trip To Mexico Was So Special
“We can go to Mexico!”, Jacob screamed as we packed our entire life up in London this past January, and prepared to move halfway across the world to Los Angeles.
I’m pretty sure I caught the travel bug from Jacob.
